Iraqi parliament finishes second reading for amended election law
The second reading of the amended election law was finished by the Iraqi Parliament on Saturday which will now be put to a vote for final approval. The amended election law is set to be presented during a session of parliament on Wednesday (June 6). According to the draft amendment to the law, the electoral commission will have to recount votes manually for the Iraqi parliamentary election held on May 12. It has measures which say the manual recount of the vote must take place under the supervision of party representatives and the United Nations. The results for any polling station will be annulled if it is confirmed that vote rigging occurred and the electronic system will be cancelled.
