Baghdad Sets up Customs Offices on Border with KRG
The Baghdad-appointed governor of Kirkuk has established customs offices on the main roads leading into the Kurdistan Region. The customs offices, ordered by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, are set up on Kirkuk-Erbil and Kirkuk-Sulaymaniyah highways. Local officials said the Iraqi Federal Police would be in charge of the offices to tax the trade between Kurdistan Region and Iraq. The decision is an extension of Baghdad’s policies to fortify its rule in the disputed Kurdish territories.
