Kurdistan Parliament resumes debate of pension reform bill after lengthy first day
The Kurdistan Parliament continues to debate the government’s pension reform plan for a second day on Monday, after seven hours of discussion on Sunday. The legislation is undergoing a second reading, after being reintroduced into the Parliament late last year. Activists and pension beneficiaries have objected to the legislation, which they say primarily benefits senior government officials at the expense of ordinary government workers and people dependent on government social services.
