National alliance agrees on mechanism to choose candidate
The national alliance agreed in its meeting on Tuesday night on a mechanism to choose its candidate for premiership within five days. The alliance gave a chance for its two candidates Nuri Al Maliki and Adel Abdul Mehdi to reach a consensus over one of them within five days, an informed source said. If consensus fails, the alliance will have to adopt another mechanism, which might have to refer to the candidate who rallied 65% of votes in Parliament, a member of the national coalition said.
